The recent 5th session of the 17th People’s Congress of Suzhou was held successfully. Dr. Tammy Tan, Chairman of HymonBio, attended the meeting as a representative of the Municipal People’s Congress. Based on industry practice and people’s concerns of their livelihoods, she not only actively made suggestions and shared development blueprints for the construction of a healthy Suzhou, but also brought forth two important proposals. Namely, one on optimizing policy guidance and supporting the development of science and technology enterprises with outstanding talents; and one on promoting the innovative and integrated development of biomedical enterprises, creating a new high level in the region.
Wu Qingwen—deputy to the Municipal People’s Congress, deputy secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and mayor—clearly put forward in the government report that the construction of “New Three Centers” for chronic disease management, cancer prevention and treatment, and multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment will be launched, core medical technology will be accelerated, the making high-quality resources more accessible, and promote construction of elderly-friendly communities. This is highly consistent with HymonBio’s development concept of, “Breaking through with technology and empowering people’s livelihood,” and also provides clear guidance for the next development of the company.
Li Yaping—director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People’s Congress—mentioned in his work report that in order to fully ensure the new economy, the People’s Congress has established a top-down linkage working mechanism for the observation of innovative economic operation, which has built a solid platform for enterprises to undertake government work and practice social responsibility. As one oe the 21 new economic observation points for Suzhou in 2025, HymonBio is closely following requirements of this mechanism, taking the two heavyweight proposals as an important starting point, accurately docking work deployment proposed by Mayor Wu, implementing the mission of delegates in scientific and technological innovation and industrial empowerment, and writing a practical chapter for the construction of a healthy Suzhou.
In the field of cancer prevention and treatment, HymonBio launched their independently-researched-and-developed Pan-Cancer Screening Test Kit. Based on the PCR platform, this kit can detect 28 of the most common cancers using only one tube of blood, costing only a fraction of similar products based in the United States.
At present, the company is actively promoting the implementation of this product in county hospitals, community health service centers and other primary medical institutions. With PCR’s mature popularity, residents can enjoy high-quality cancer early screening close to home, helping to build a full cycle of cancer “prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and management,” effectively promoting improvement of the medical community and allocation of high-quality resources.
Dr. Tan said the two proposals originated from practical observation and people’s livelihood concerns at the frontline of the industry. In terms of supporting technology-based enterprises who have talents, she suggested improving policies such as R&D deductibles and talent incentives, and supporting enterprises to cultivate core technologies. In terms of biomedical innovation and integration, she calls for the construction of “government building, enterprise linkage, and industry-university research collaboration” ecosystem to promote the integration of industrial chain resources and the transformation of achievements, and to help Suzhou build an industrial innovation highland with national influence.
HymonBio will continue to bridge economic observation of the Suzhou People’s Congress, track and feed back industry dynamics, and promote the implementation of the proposals. The company will continue to focus on the construction of the “new three centers” and the medical community, strengthen core technology research, launch more products that meet the clinical and people’s needs, and actively interact with industrial chain partners to jointly build a regional innovation ecosystem to contribute to the construction of a healthy city in Suzhou.
