On February 8, the 10th Suzhou Congress of Returned Overseas Chinese and their relatives was opened. Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Fang Bo, attended the meeting and presented a speech, encouraging the Federation of Overseas Chinese at all levels in the city, along with the vast number of returned overseas Chinese and their relatives, to cultivate their feelings of home, bravely shoulder their responsibilities and missions, and make further achievements and contributions in the new Chinese modernization in Suzhou. Secretary of the leading Party Group and chairman of the Provincial Federation of Overseas Chinese, Liu Biao, attended the meeting to congratulate him. Mayor Wu Qingwen—chairman of the Standing Committee of the Municipal’s People’s Congress—and Zu Min, chairman of the Municipal People’s Political Consultative Conference, both attended the meeting.
During the conference, Dr. Tammy Tan, chairman of HymonBio, was elected as part-time vice president of the Suzhou Federation of Overseas Chinese after a democratic election. This is not only a full affirmation of Dr. Tan’s long-term commitment to the cause of overseas Chinese and social responsibility, but also a full recognition of HymonBio’s adherence to the feelings of home and country, enabling the development of overseas Chinese enterprises and actively serving local construction.
As a representative of the overseas Chinese community, Dr. Tan has always kept to her original mission, deeply cultivating biomedicine, and leading HymonBio to make steady progress in technology research and development, industrial implementation, and public welfare. She regularly leads enterprises to focus on in vitro diagnoses, rely on accumulation of professional technology, actively connect overseas resources, help integration and linkage of Suzhou biomedical industry and the international market, and develop the concept of “overseas Chinese and Suzhou” in the new era.
After hearing Secretary Fan Bo’s speech, Dr. Tan was greatly encouraged and excited. She said that being elected as part-time vice president of the Suzhou Federation of Overseas Chinese is both an honor and a heavy responsibility. We will resolutely implement the spirit of the conference, maintain Secretary Fan Bo’s earnest request, base ourselves in the duties of a vice chairman, give full play to our advantages, act as a bridge between the Federation, overseas Chinese enterprises, and the masses.
