On the morning of July 29, Dr. Yang Xiongli, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, donated to the Chinese Physiological Society in his name to set up the “Feng Depei Fund” to pay tribute to his mentor, Dr. Feng Depei’s scientific spirit and noble character. As a personal disciple of Dr. Yang during his doctoral study, Dr. Tammy Tan was invited to visit the Fenglin campus of Fudan University and witnessed this far-reaching moment with guests from all walks of life.

At the ceremony, Dr. Yang recalled Mr. Feng Depei’s outstanding contributions to Chinese physiology and his far-reaching influence on his scientific research career. The friendship between teacher and student across time and space deeply touched everyone present. Dr. Tan said, “Dr. Yang is not only my academic tutor, but also a guide in my life. His rigorous academic attitude and the mind of supporting future generations have always inspired me. Today, he has interpreted the true meaning of ‘passing on from generation to generation’ in action, which makes me feel proud and responsible.”
